Craftspace is a modular container design + build company.

Our team combines over three decades of experience designing and building container-based structures. From urban-mixed use developments and custom homes to housing that serves a greater good we look forward to helping with your container building idea.

Company history

Craftspace started in 2017 with the space design for CoWorx, a coworking company located in Wilmington, NC. The project included the adaptive re-use of an old warehouse space featuring 20’ shipping containers that were used for office suites.

In conjunction with the CoWorx project, Craftspace began collaborating with a local developer to launch The Cargo District, a mixed-use development urban revitalization project encompassing approximately 100 shipping containers.

The company continued to expand its portfolio designing & building a variety of shipping container structures encompassing backyard studios and pool cabanas, custom single-family container homes and a multi-story boutique hotel. Today, Craftspace focuses primarily on prefab container homes and cabins, but also designs & builds custom residential and commercial projects.
